The Puerto Peñasco Mar de Cortés Rotary Club has once again donated an equipped ambulance to the community, this time to the Dialysis Clinic. The ambulance unit, presented on Friday, April 17th, was acquired thanks to Rotary District 5420 in Utah, and made possible through collaborative efforts among the various Rotary clubs.
Puerto Peñasco Mar de Cortés Rotary Club President Eduardo Vallejo stated the recently donated ambulance is in perfect conditions. Similarly, the Puerto Peñasco Club has been able to provide assistance to the local Red Cross with the donation of an ambulance, along with two school buses for area schools, and $3000 US for the Dialysis Clinic (also through collaboration with the Utah Rotary district). The donated funds to the Dialysis Clinic were used to purchase a third dialysis machine for the center, which is expected to begin operations in the near future.
Samuel Ortega, Director of the local Office of Integral Family Development (DIF), which has been tirelessly working on bringing about the dialysis clinic, reports there has been about 75% progress on the center. He emphasized, as on other occasions, the center will be of tremendous importance for patients who currently have to travel substantial distances outside of Puerto Peñasco to seek care.
