Throughout Mexico there are numerous professional organizations that serve to strengthen fields through shared experience and knowledge. Among these are professional groups (Colegios) of accountants, engineers, architects, and many others. After years of diligent work, the Professional Architectural Organization of Rocky Point (Colegio de Arquitectos Rocaportenses, A.C.), now in its … year, on Friday, May 4th, the organization swore in its new board with Architect Pedro Lasso as President. The ceremony, held at Los Juanes Restaurant in the Mirador, was well attended by local architects and included the presence of the National President of the Colegios of Architects, Architect Alfonso Palafox, Sonoran President of Architects Architect Nancy Saldaña, Puerto Peñasco Mayor Alejandro Zepeda Munro, and numerous Presidents of local Architectural organizations from throughout the state, as well as outgoing Board President Architect Ivan Castellanos and Sonoran Professional of the year Architect Emma Almada from Hermosillo.
In his first speech as President of the Architectural Board, Architect Lasso expressed while there are many challenges confronting architects both within the city, as well as throughout the region and across the country, this event allows them to reiterate their serious commitment to make our city a prominent economic center to promote business, tourism, environmental conservation and human development throughout the region while promoting sustainable and permanent economic development. Congratulations to our amigo Pedro Lasso as he steps into the role as President of the local Architectural Organization, as well as to all members of the new board!
