On Monday, the exceptional young golfer Alejandro de Zavala Mancera out of Puerto Peñasco will participate in the 42nd Boys Junior PGA Championship in St. Albans, Missouri. This is one of the most important youth golf tournaments in the U.S., with only 144 of the top youth golfers representing states from across the U.S. Zavala, with proud Puerto Peñasco ties, won the Arizona elimination tournament and is representing Arizona at this week’s tournament.
We wish Alejandro (aka “Janos”) the best of success at the tournament, which itself has seen the launch of many careers including the likes of Tiger Woods and Jordan Spieth, among others.
It’s worth noting at this level, the young golfers are actively sought out by universities offering scholarships. Janos has already signed a letter of intent to represent and play golf for the University of Arizona. We’ll be sure to keep close tabs on the tournament. Plus, we’d like to share that in Sunday’s practice round Janos got off on the right foot by hitting a hole in one! This is the perfect reflection of his current preparation!
