Humidity and wind do not make good bed fellows, and this weekend we should get our fill of both. Norbert, a category 1 hurricane is making a stir in the southern part of the state and a “blue” alert has been issued for our area. On further examination, “blue” is the lowest category on the Early Storm detection meter indicating the presence of a cyclone of hurricane more than 72 hours away from reaching speeds of 63 km/h. Regardless, it’s a good weekend to hold onto our sombreros and keep our eye on Norbert. Locally, where we all plan to be blown away is by watching hometown boxer and Double Flyweight World Champion “El Gallito” Estrada work to defend his titles once again on Saturday, Sept. 6th. Be sure to check your favorite drinking hole for fight times! In the meantime, let’s rundown the weekend – though also of note is that October’s BoomerFest has been officially cancelled (For more information or questions, please contact organizers at www.boomerfestdays.com)
