Juan Francisco “Gallito” Estrada, prodigal boxing son of Puerto Peñasco, made his way to the Yucatan last Sunday, where he’s completing final training before facing off against Filipino opponent Froilan Saludar this Saturday, March 28th at the Poliforum Zamna.
Once again, now in Merida, el Gallito will work to defend his flyweight World Boxing Association (WBA) and World Boxing Organization (WBO) belts, which he first won in Macao, China in 2013.
The event, presented by the companies Zanfer and Max Boxing, will be broadcast nationally on Azteca TV along with commentary from four former world champion boxers.
El Gallito Estrada, who surprised a group of travelers upon his arrival in Mérida, says he is confident in his training for the upcoming fight.
“I hope to continue being the world champion, God-willing. I trust my training and am confident we will win, in order to continue providing triumphs for Mexico and Puerto Peñasco,” remarked el Gallito.
It is worth recalling that “Gallito” became double flyweight world champion in Macao China in about against Brian Viloria in 2013. He has defended his title one three separate occasions against Milan Melindo (July 2013 – Macao, China), Richie Mepranum (April 2014 – Puerto Peñasco, Sonora), and Giovanni Segura (September 2014 – Mexico City, DF).
