Thanks to support from Héctor Vázquez del Mercado of Las Palomas Golf & Beach Resort, along with the assistance of architect Pedro Lasso, a small putting green course has been set up by the patio at the José Dávalos Casa Hogar home for the elderly. There, residents will be able to spend afternoons putting around the green.
The synthetic grass two-hole Casa Hogar “golf course” encompasses an area of 3 x 9 meters (about 4’ x 30’). Adorned with flags provided from The Links golf course at Las Palomas, as well as a number of putters – some donated by staff from RockyPoint360.com – the “green” will provide a form of afternoon entertainment both for residents of the home and visitors alike.
Santiago Ruiz, President of the Casa Hogar board, thanked all of those involved with the project for stepping in to build the putting green in helping to provide additional activities for those residing at the home.
“The idea of having activities for residents at the home came about as they enjoy being outside, watching the cars go by, and what better thing than to have a green area and activity to get out of the regular routine,” he noted.
At the ribbon-cutting ceremony, the nuns who care for the 25 residents at the Casa Hogar, jokingly made assurances they would be sure to practice their golf putting skills.
Vázquez del Mercado, Director of Las Palomas Beach & Golf Resort, made a further commitment to help the home through the donation of linens as well as, through his staff, to help provide maintenance and cleaning.
