Just this past week I started to turn the A/C on in the office – mid June, are you kidding me? I’m used to doing that business in late April or early May in Rocky Point! Indeed, it is near perfect weather still as we head into a 3 day weekend, honoring Juneteenth in the US – plus it’s Fathers Day on both sides of the border. NOTE: Lukeville/Sonoyta border hours remain 6 a.m. – 8 p.m. The next date for extended hours is Friday, June 30th.
Now that we’ve rolled past last weekend’s super successful Circus Mexicus (¡felicidades a todos!), we look to summer days with inviting water for trips to Bird Island, sunset cruises and day splash jaunts; it’s a great time to get those kayaks and paddle-boards in the sea (think Cholla Bay and Isla del Mar for calmer waters), plus around town there’s amateur baseball and basketball teams to cheer for! So, let’s run down this Father’s Day weekend!
Burger Battle – now through June 24th
Here’s a thought for Fathers Day scrumptiousness – did you know there’s a Burger Battle in town? The local culinary magazine LaFoodie MX has enlisted several local restaurants in the meat madness so now through June 24th you can visit any of the selected spots to try their specialty burgers – and vote for the best burger.
This is LaFoodie’s second round of Burger Battles – we know not all Rocky Point patties are on this list, but it is precisely so folks get out to try new spots. So, battle on! Featured spots this round: AP Coffee, Fire Pit Meat & Grill @ Peñasco del Sol hotel, El Local: Comida Sazona, Pimentón, The Crane at Islas del Mar, Mr. Burger, Restaurante de Ramón, The New Mexican, Jacaranda Pool Bar, Sushi to go.
