Puerto Peñasco will be a sub-site to the annual Alfonso Ortiz Tirado Festival (FAOT), celebrated each January in the colonial town of Álamos, Sonora. The annual celebration of music and the arts, from opera to rock – is named in honor of Mexican tenor Alfonso Ortiz Tirado, born in Álamos on Jan. 24, 1893, and the first Mexican singer to perform works by Mexican composers abroad.
The recently released 34th Annual FAOT schedule details performances lined up from Jan. 19 – 27, including pieces to be presented in twelve different sub-sites. Presentations in Puerto Peñasco are scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 23rd with Sonora Lírico, and Wednesday, Jan. 24th with a performance of the Ferrer Meaney Duo.
