The best weather of the year has reached the shores of Rocky Point, along with several events to help make your trip the best it can be! Some of this year’s events will be in person, taking into account health protocols, while others will take place on virtual platforms, and even others in a hybrid fashion so everyone can enjoy.
Here are some of the upcoming events for your calendar to make sure your trip to this corner of the Sea of Cortez is unforgettable.
The long-awaited concert of Los Ángeles Azules is right around the corner. This mega concert will take place October 15th on the Malecón in the Old Port, as part of the festivities surrounding the 15th Anniversary of The Links Golf Course at Las Palomas Beach & Golf Resort. This is sure to be a grand fiesta both for tournament goers and the general public.
Also this Fall, for the 7th time Puerto Peñasco will be one of the extended hosts for the International Cervantino Festival, now in its 49th year. Thousands of international artists will take part in over 100 performances on majestic stages in Guanajuato, which will be broadcast through official sites of FIC Cervantino, as well as Puerto Peñasco government sites. On this occasion, there will also be performances broadcast on two giant screens in two of Puerto Peñasco’s neighborhoods so that no one misses out on the most important cultural festival in Latin America.
If you enjoy fiestas, save the date for Oct. 16th for the 5th edition of “Cheve Fest”. This celebration of craft beer has become an annual Fall tradition on the terrace at El Tapeo Wine Bar. This year, 9 craft beer houses from Sonora and Baja California will be on hand, along with live music, local restaurant offerings, and sponsor stands. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
La Oficina de Manny’s has announced a Tribute to Enanitos Verdes for Oct. 23rd. The event will include Marcelo Lucero, former member of this band originally from Argentina that is part of classic rock in Spanish. The group Butar from Hermosillo, Sonora will perform with the former Enanitos Verdes guitarist, as they go through some of the classic group’s best known songs.
Plus, several local bars are readying for special Halloween festivities, with celebrations the last weekend of the month. Follow their pages to learn more!
Also on the calendar is Mexican comedian Mike Salazar, who will be performing his hilarious stand-up at the Puerto Peñasco Convention Center on Oct. 29th. This is sure to be a night filled with laughter and relaxation!
Playa Azul Resort is planning for Fall Fest 2021, a two-day event of live music highlighting the 70s that promises to be a grand fiesta of songs to take you back and kick up your heels! The Fall Fest at Playa Azul will take place Nov. 5th– 6th at the resort.
November is also the month for the Rocky Point Rally, the most important motorcycle event in northwestern Mexico, and a whole tradition of its own. The Rocky Point Rally will take place Nov. 11th – 14th, marking its 20th Anniversary!
Celebrations to honor Mexico’s traditional Day of the Dead are planned for Oct. 30th – 31st, which will include Day of the Dead alter and Catrina contests along the walkways of Rodeo Drive. This truly Mexican fiesta recalls our ancestral and colorful cultural roots. This is a family oriented event for all.
In Fall, we can’t forget about “Thanksgiving”, when many families from our neighbor to the North choose to get together to celebrate in Rocky Point. Several restaurants are already planning special Thanksgiving dinners for Thursday, Nov. 25th, complete with turkey and all the trimmings.
As you can see, there are several ways to celebrate and a variety of events to enjoy this Fall in Rocky Point, which is just getting started. Keep in mind health protocols remain in place to ensure you have a pleasant stay in Rocky Point!
