The small yet growing foundation entitled Efecto Mascota (Pet Effect) in Rocky Point has the goal of saving animals from the city streets and is working to raise funds to help with improvements on an animal shelter located along the highway to Sonoyta. The shelter, originally begun by Graciela Garcida, we have learned now has a team of 6 to help with overall improvements and are even working to adopt pets out.
The group, renewed with the energy of Ariadna Zavala, will be having a fundraiser breakfast/brunch buffet this Saturday, Feb. 11 from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. at Los Juanes restaurant in the Mirador. $15 USD donations for the breakfast will be used to improve the current facilities at the shelter. Ariadna remarks they also appreciate volunteers to help out at the shelter, as well as gift cards for pet toys or construction items including those from PetSmart, PetCo, Home Depot, Lowes, etc.
