At about a month out from its launch, tourism and governmental authorities met in Tijuana recently to formally present the new flight set between Tijuana-Puerto Peñasco.
The first Calafia flight along the new route will take place April 29th, offering direct connection between Tijuana and Puerto Peñasco Fridays and Mondays. Passengers in and out of Tijuana will also be able to take advantage of the Cross Border Xpress (CBX) San Diego connection.
Sonora Tourism Secretary, Célida López Cárdenas, and her Baja California counterpart, Miguel Aguíñiga Rodríguez, joined Puerto Peñasco mayor Jorge Pivac Carrillo, SWM and Calafia Airlines representative Willard Lazzarini Méndez, tour operators and Sonoran business leaders for the flight’s formal presentation.
With announcement of the upcoming Puerto Peñasco flight, as well as another to the new “Felipe Ángeles” International Airport in Mexico City, Tijuana will now service 37 national destinations, detailed Baja California Tourism Secretary Aguíñiga Rodríguez.
Sonora Tourism Secretary Célida López indicated Sonora Governor Alfonso Durazo Montaño plans to be on hand to receive the new flight in Puerto Peñasco on April 29th, stressing his interest in increasing tourism’s economic potential.
