Press Release:  On specific instructions of Puerto Peñasco mayor Jorge Pivac Carrillo, operatives remain in place and have been strengthened in the search for a U.S. couple lost at sea in recent days while kayaking.

The Municipal Civil Protection office has reinforced efforts by sky, land, and sea in coordination with the Navy, which is sustaining the search with use of swift boats, Municipal Public Safety units on land, along with the off-road group Koralillos, and volunteers from the U.S. community that have joined the operation, including use of private planes.

Search efforts have encompassed areas near Playa Encanto, where the couple had departed in kayaks, as well as to Las Conchas, La Pinta, Mayan Palace, Santo Tomás, along with El Desemboque and Puerto Lobos.

Alan Ontiveros, Director of Municipal Civil Protection, detailed in following-up to the report of the missing couple – along with instructions of the mayor – search operations have not ceased but rather brought in more volunteers, carrying out intense efforts around the clock by land, as well as use of private planes. All of this with the hope and firm intent of obtaining positive results as quickly as possible.

Ontiveros indicated the couple’s daughter is under the care of family members who came to Puerto Peñasco to be with her.
