More than one hundred thousand pesos worth of equipment including air conditioners, computers, and athletic gear was presented to students at the local #27 Secondary school today, April 24th, on behalf of Rotary Clubs and others from Fremont, CA, a sister city to Puerto Peñasco.
The #27 Secondary School, which has an enrollment of more than 1,100 students and is about to celebrate its 50th anniversary, received five A/C units, as well as two classroom computers for, along with dozens of sports gear including soccer balls, volleyballs, basketballs and baseballs, along with golf equipment. The golf equipment was presented to students who participated in helping with golf tournaments in Puerto Peñasco.
Associations who pulled together resources to help acquire the material included the Rotary Club of Fremont, as well as the Manteca Rotary Club of Manteca, CA, along with the Pro Amigos Group and youth on a mission program also from Fremont, CA. The groups were also accompanied by members of the Puerto Peñasco Mar de Cortés Rotary Club.
A student from #27 spoke on behalf of his classmates, expressing appreciation for the importance help with the A/C units to help fend off the hot summer in the classrooms. Students also put on a short artistic program to thank the charitable donors.
