More and more good news continues to unfold here in Puerto Peñasco and now CitiCinemas has opened its doors to the public.
“At precisely 8:50 p.m., I inaugurate the theaters of CitiCinemas in Puerto Peñasco,” stated Puerto Peñasco Mayor Alejandro Zepeda Munro enthusiastically on the evening of June 28th. Among applauses, smiles, and a flurry of camera flashes, the traditional red bow was ceremoniously cut at the theater’s front door. CitCinemas itself is a 100% Sinaloan company, begun in 2004, that can be found in various states across the country including Sinaloa, Coahuila, Durango, and now in Sonora – here in Puerto Peñasco!
That is correct….ladies and gentlemen, friends, residents, and visitors to Rocky Point….following much anticipation and waiting, as of Friday, June 29th (when it opened to the public), we can now enjoy the 7th Art as it should be – in a dark theater, in comfort, with a good sound system and a large screen. The Citi Cinemas complex has six inviting air-conditioned theaters, a concession stand, and lounge area.
The inaugural ceremony was done up to the nines! Members of the press were present, along with state and municipal government representatives including the State Executive Secretary of Public Safety, Ernesto Munro (there on behalf of Sonora Governor Guillermo Padrés), Puerto Peñasco Mayor Alejandro Zepeda Munro and his wife Marcela Albelaiz and their daughters, José Cherum, Director of the Plaza Porto Mio where the theater is located, Municipal Secretary Fausto Soto, City Trustee Noé Bañaga, distinguished guests from the Chamber of Commerce and area restaurants, along with Engineer Carlos Antonio Sosa Valencia representing the President of the CitiCinemas Complex, and Imelda Sosa Valencia, General Director of Human Resources for the Grupo Cinemas del Pacífico.
Yet, efforts at the Plaza Port Mio don’t stop there. Work will continue in order to make this plaza a grand family space, as there are various surprises and projects lined up that will surely satisfy many expectations this city rightly deserves.

Más y más buenas noticias envuelven a esta ciudad y ahora Citicinemas abre sus puertas al público.
“Siendo las 8 de la noche con 50 mintos doy por inaugurado las salas de Citicinemas en Puerto Peñasco” Dijo con entusiasmo el Alcalde de Peñasco el C.P Alejandro Zepeda. Y entre aplausos, sonrisas y el destello de los flashes de las cámaras, se cortó el listón rojo representativo colocado en la puerta principal.
Así es señoras y señores, amigos, residentes y visitantes de Rocky Point; después de mucha ilusión y espera, por fin vamos a poder apreciar, a partir de este viernes 29 de junio, del séptimo arte como se debe; en una sala de cine, obscura, cómoda, con buen sonido y la gran pantalla.
El complejo cuenta con seis acojedoras salas debidamente acondicionadas para disfrutar de las películas, una dulcería y una área lounge.
A saber que Citicinemas es una empresa 100% sinaloense que nació en el 2004 y que se encuentra en varios estados del país, como Sinaloa, Coahuila, Durango y ahora en Sonora, aquí en Puerto Peñasco que con 6 salas.
La ceremonia de inauguración se realizó con gran bombo y platillo. Asistieron la prensa y representantes del gobierno estatal y municipal como El secretario de seguridad Pública del Estado (y en representación del Gobernador del Estado, Guillermo Padrés) el Secretario Ernesto Munro Palacio, el presidente municipal C.P Alejandro Zepeda con su esposa Marcela Albelaiz y sus hijas, el director de Plaza Porto Mio, José Cherem, El secretario municipal de Puerto Peñasco Fausto Soto, Síndico procurador Noé Bañaga y también distinguidas personalidades de la cámara de comercio y restaurantera; y, representando al Presidente del Complejo Ingeniero Carlos Antonio Sosa Valencia, la licenciada Imelda Sosa Valencia, directora general de Recursos Humanos de Grupo Cinemas del Pacífico.
Pero esto no solo acaba ahí, los esfuerzos van a seguir para hacer de esa gran plaza un lugar de esparcimiento familiar, pues se tienen en puerta varias sorpresas y projectos que seguramente dejarán satisfechos a todos cubriendo con las espectativas que esta ciudad merece.
