The “Adopt a Grandparent” program of the José Dávalos “Casa Hogar” home for the elderly is once again getting underway, with 40 people helping out with funds for a period of three months.
Beginning October first, families who have committed to “adopt an abuelo”, will be donating 200 pesos monthly to the home for expenses to help with payroll, social security taxes, and food.
Santiago Ruiz, President of the Casa Hogar Board, remarked they have already received a tremendously favorable response from the community to the campaign in helping to address expenses at the home.
As part of the campaign, and in bringing people closer to those benefiting from the program, each donor receives a card with information about the abuelo/abuela they are supporting and of course are invited to visit and learn more about their stay at the home.
Although this particular campaign has practically met its goals, the Casa Hogar Board welcomes any who wish to help in making a donation in cash or in kind (such as cleaning supplies as well as personal hygiene products).
Contact: 383 1952 or stop by the home any Saturday from 9 am – 12 pm, at the corner of Blvd. Josefa Ortiz and Miguel Hidalgo.
