On December 5th Rafaela Félix de Figueroa, local President of the DIF System, received a donation of $1,000 USD from Mr. & Mrs. Mike and Rhea Dugan, residents of Cholla Bay and President of the Cholla Bay Neighborhood Association. This support will be put toward the city’s ongoing dialysis center project.
Accompanied by Dr. Eliel Lopez Urias, Municipal Health Coordinator, and Dr. Alvaro Aburto, the First Lady of Puerto Peñasco expressed thanks for the noble gesture of the Dugans.
Mrs. Felix de Figueroa remarked that because of the good heart of people from different sectors of the community, like the Dugans (as well as most recently the Weitnaurs of Minnesota), the US community has responded to this cause. A strong example of this is the international “Caring Hearts” foundation who built the building, which is now in process of furnishing.
“This contribution will help in great measure to keep equipping the infrastructure which we already have. We are very grateful to everyone that has contributed with their time, donations and gestures. On behalf of Mayor Gerardo Figueroa, and the community, I reiterate my gratitude for your great spirit of solidarity”, she noted.
These actions, she said, will encourage and motivate us to move on with this project that, once in operation, will address once and for all needs of people that endure kidney disease so they may receive needed treatments rather than go to hospitals in Caborca, Nogales, and Hermosillo.
