Puerto Peñasco, Mexico – International Coastal Cleanup Day was September 18, and Las Palomas Beach & Golf Resort hopes individuals took the opportunity to do their part to beautify the coastline. Ahead of the official cleanup day, Las Palomas employees held their own event, clearing trash from a mile of Sandy Beach in front of the resort.
“At Las Palomas, we want to show that one small action can have a large impact on others and on our environment,” said Héctor Vázquez del Mercado, general director of Las Palomas Beach & Golf Resort. “We aim to make a difference, to take care of our resort, our hometown, and our environment.”
Throughout the year, Las Palomas and its staff participates in a number of conservation initiatives. During the recent cleanup event, about 80 employees cleaned glass, plastic, cans, cigarette butts, cups and other garbage from the Las Palomas beachfront.
“It’s important that we all do our part to take care of our beach – and our town – so that future generations can enjoy it as we do now,” said Vázquez del Mercado.
