“Rookie” body builder Josúe Fernando Garcia is strengthening the name of Puerto Peñasco in the world of body building, after having brought back 1st place in his category in the recent “Wences Classic” State competition.
The 19 year old managed to conquer the judges with his physical condition, which also netted him 2nd place Overall, selected from among the first place finishers from all the categories.
The competition, in which Puerto Peñasco native Josué Fernando García Morales participated, took place on Saturday, March 14th in Navojoa. There three additional youth from Puerto Peñasco took part, all of whom managed to place themselves among the top spots.
This important competition meant a great deal to Fernando García, who returned pleased as his efforts bore fruit, “Though,” he explains, “not 100% satisfied because the idea was to win the whole event.”
The body builder trusts the results from this competition will give him more strength to continue working toward the upcoming competition of Mister Sonora in May and then the Energy Cup in August, where he hopes to place in the top spots.
For Fernando, who is currently a civil engineering student at ITSPP (Superior Technological Institute of Puerto Peñasco), a typical day requires physical training and a balanced diet. As competition dates near, gym training intensifies and his diet is modified.
Josué Fernando is the son of Ramón Fernando “Conan” García Chávez, a recognized body builder who has achieved important rankings on the state level. His father states that younger Fernando has all the genetic make-up and support to continue his preparation. It’s worth noting that Fernando’s sister will also soon be stepping into the body building business.
