Mayor contends this will help continued promotion of city
During an informational meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 6th, which brought together Puerto Peñasco Mayor Gerardo Figueroa Zazueta, service providers, military authorities and police from the three levels of government, City Economic Director Ramón Alberto Fuentes Cruz reported Puerto Peñasco was not included within the most recent travel warning concerning Mexico, issued by the U.S. State Department.
At the meeting, Mayor Figueroa was presented with an acknowledgment issued by Megan Phaneuf, Consular Section Chief at the U.S. Consulate in Nogales, Sonora, stating the municipality of Puerto Peñasco, Sonora had not been included in the U.S. State Department warnings.
In clarifying this point, Fuentes Cruz mentioned travelers who make their way to Puerto Peñasco by car were only given the recommendation to travel to the city by crossing at the Lukeville, AZ – Sonoyta, Sonora crossing.
U.S. Citizens service office in Puerto Peñasco
The administration of Prof. Gerardo Figueroa Zazueta will soon provide an office for the community of U.S. citizens residing in Puerto Peñasco, as well as for those who visit, that will be able to address concerns and questions in English.
