Puerto Peñasco’s 5th Annual Deep Sea Fishing tournament, organized and sponsored by the local Convention and Visitors Bureau (OCV), is set for the weekend of July 7th and 8th. With more than $10,000 USD in prizes, this year should reel in some true deep-sea fishing aficionados. Tournament registration and processing of fishing permits on Friday, July 6th, beginning at 4 p.m. at the Terramar Restaurant (by the harbor). The captain’s meeting and ice-breaker gathering will be in the same location at 6 p.m.
This year’s Deep Sea Fishing tournament in Puerto Peñasco is also the 6th leg of the 2012 Sea of Cortés Circuit, which began in Baja California Sur on April 26th and will go through December 8, 2012. The 2012 Sea of Cortés Circuit, is a joint effort of the Northwestern Mexican states of Baja California Sur, Baja California, Sonora, and Sinaloa to renew and reactivate recreational sport fishing throughout the region, while also promoting and spreading the word both nationally and internationally as to the tremendous tourism potential that exists within the Sea of Cortés. http://circuitomardecortes.com/circuitoi.html
The 2012 Puerto Peñasco Cup, or rather 5th Annual Deep Sea Fishing Tournament, is open to participants of all ages and will award prizes to the top three winners for catches of grouper, pinto bass, and leopard grouper. Prizes include cash amounts plus GPS devices, as well as fishing rods and reels.

El 5to torneo anual de pesca de fondo de Puerto Peñasco, organizado por la Oficina de Convenciones y Visitantes (OCV), se llevará a cabo los días 7 y 8 de julio del presente año. El torneo cuenta con más de $10,000 USD en premios y deberá atraer a muchos aficionados de la pesca deportiva. El torneo de pesca de fondo en Puerto Peñasco este año, también representa la 6ta parte del Circuito Mar de Cortés 2012, el cual empezó en BCS el 26 de abril y continuará hasta el 8 de diciembre del presente.
