The local administration through the Office of Art and Culture, the Municipal Youth Institute, and the Office of Ecology are pleased to announce their 1st Contest for Christmas Trees made from Recycled Materials. The holiday display and awards will be held Dec. 14th beginning from 6 p.m. at the Casa de la Cultura (across from City Hall …tip: best to park on street in front of movie theater).
Feeling creative? The holidays are a great time to tree-cycle your best creation!
Guidelines:
- Open to: children, youth, schools, civil society organizations, companies, collectives, and the community in general
- Registration: a. Register at the Office of Art & Culture (across from City Hall) 8 am – 7 pm, deadline Dec. 12th. Registration is free. b. Only one tree per team. Teams must be minimum 2 and up to 15 people c. Registration form must be fully completed to be duly registered, indicating a sole leader responsible for the team, this includes signing agreement to judges’ decision.
- Christmas Tree: a. Must be made from reused and/or recycled materials, not new or recently bought items. NOTE: Materials must not be harmful to the environment b. The organizing committee will assign each team a spot to set up their tree, which must not be larger than 3 m x 3 m wide (no height limit) c. Trees may be set up beginning Friday, Dec. 13th at 8 a.m. and must be ready by Saturday, Dec. 14th at 5 p.m. d. Christmas tree designed by the team must remain in the assigned space until after the contest, in being part of the decoration surrounding the Casa de la Cultura
- Prizes: a. All entrants are in the same category and will receive recognition for participating, with cash prizes to the top three spots. 1st: 5000 pesos 2nd: 3000 pesos 3rd: 2000 pesos b. The organizing committee will appoint judges who will evaluate each Christmas Tree, visiting each in order to listen to descriptions presented by each team. If the participating team is not at their tree when the judges visit, their participation will be declared void. c. Judges’ decision is final, and awards will be announced Saturday, Dec. 14th at 8 p.m. at the Casa de la Cultura
