1Mission meets with Mayor just before 207 miles

With their annual 207 mile bike ride from Peoria to Phoenix just a week away, members of 1Mission recently met with Puerto Peñasco Mayor Gerardo Figueroa Zazueta and First Lady Rafaela Félix de Figueroa, who both acknowledged the benefits the international organization has brought to the community of Puerto Peñasco.

A recent press release indicated that according to information provided by 1Mission, in Puerto Peñasco alone they have helped provide housing for more than 300 families over the past 5 years. Their efforts aim to improve living conditions of those most in need.

The Mayor emphasized, “On behalf of the people of our municipality that have received your contributions through diverse programs, I reiterate my administration will always support in whatever way possible those such as you who visit different parts of the country, and the world, with the sole purpose of helping.”

1Mission itself is gearing up for the 207 bike ride “between poverty and hope”, which is set to depart from Peoria, AZ on Feb. 7th and arrive at the 1Mission Mexico Base Camp just north of Puerto Peñasco on Feb. 8th. Begun in 2010, this annual event supports the Arizona nonprofit group that empowers community members to build their own homes while helping their neighbors do the same.
