The 15th Anniversary of the Pinacate Biosphere will be celebrated with a bicycle race with dozens of participants from Peñasco, Sonoyta, and Caborca, and stretching from City Hall to the Biology Station (entrance to the craters).
Horacio Ortega, Deputy Director of the Pinacate Biosphere Reserve, indicated the bicycle race has become a tradition as a way of celebrating the anniversary of when the area was declared as a Reserve. Plus, the event adds to activities in honor of the recent Earth Day.
He remarked the race is being organized by the club “Cicloturismo Pinakate” on this occasion, as each year a different club helps organize the event.
The race, which spans 35 KM to the Schuk Toak Visitors Center and 80 KM to the Biology Station, will depart on Sunday, June 12th at 7:30 a.m. from City Hall.
Diverse categories include mountain and road bikes for women and men, as well as youth, free, and master.
Registration is FREE and winners will taken home acknowledgmenets and medals.
