By José Antonio Pérez

Noemi “Mimi” Rodriguez, accomplished youth athlete and Puerto Peñasco native, received a very warm welcome upon her return home after breaking three weightlifting world records at the Youth Pan-American Championships recently held in Guayaquil, Ecuador.

Noemi is the first Mexican woman to achieve such a feat, and was welcomed home by her mother Nancy, and friends as she arrived at the bus station.

Noemi’s father & trainer, Victor Rodriguez Anaya, stated the three gold medals they won were definitely contemplated in their plan, but breaking three world records was an exceptional complement to these victories!

Among the joy, Noemi, who proudly carried the Mexican flag, stated she now plans to rest a little and then work overtime in training to compete in the 2020 U20 World Championships in Cairo, Egypt.

Congratulations Noemi!
