Women’s March in Puerto Peñasco

On Wednesday, March 10th , dozens of Puerto Peñasco women marched and raised their voices to commemorate International Women’s Day (March 8).

Women of all ages marched behind a vehicle with the song “Canción sin Miedo” streaming from its speakers (Song without Fear). This musical piece has become a hymn at marches and feminist movements across the country.

A majority of the women, dressed in purple or with purple bandanas, carried signs that read Si tocan a una respondemos todas (If you touch one, we all respond) or Soy la madre la niña que jamás vas a tocar (I’m the mother of the little girl you will never touch), made their way from Shrimp Plaza to Plaza de la Madre, raising their voices and slogans aimed at ending violence against women.

The invitation to the peaceful march had been spread across social media, inviting all women who wished to join to come out, making sure everyone also complied with health safety protocols.
