Requests for entry to the José Dávalos Valdivia “Casa Hogar” home for the elderly have increased 100% this year, reports Board President Santiago Ruiz Hurtado. He stressed though the home is not able to receive more residents, they do offer support by distributing adult diapers, clothing, food goods, and medicine, and by delivering breakfast 3 times a week. Ruiz Hurtado indicated the Casa Hogar is currently home to 24 residents, while this year alone they have received an additional 25 entry requests, and currently have 16 individuals on the waiting list. He added while they are looking at how to expand the home in the future, presently they are not able to receive more residents due to safety concerns.
