Curiously, a holiday that seems to be celebrated more in the U.S. than in most of Mexico, and not to be confused with Mexico’s Independence Day (which is September 16). 5 de mayo actually heralds the day the Mexican army defeated the French at the Battle of Puebla de Zaragoza in 1862 ¡VIVA! Not one to shy away from a good fiesta, tequila, and mariachi, let’s celebrate the 1862 Battle of Puebla and head into the weekend in Rocky Point! Plus, don’t forget the Red Cross Annual Collection runs through May 7th. Happy Mother’s Day!
