UTPP to install solar panels

The Technological University of Puerto Peñasco (UTPP) aims to become the first sustainable university in the region, with an investment of 4.4 million pesos into green energy.

UTPP Dean Roberto Káram Gutiérrez detailed, following approval of funds from the General Administration of Technological Universities, work is already underway to install solar panels at the campus located on the north side of town. Once installed, the solar panels will provide up to 151.2 kilowatts and supply electricity to the entire University. This represents an average annual savings of 800,000 pesos, Káram added.

The green energy project consists of three hundred thirty-six 450 W PERC and HalfCell photovoltaic modules that will provide greater efficiency and profitability.  50% of the modules will be installed on the roof, while the other 50% are part of a parking structure plan, doubling up the project goals.
