U.S. extends essential travel guidelines to Aug 21st

Monthly “essential travel” land entry border update.

As we have reported since March 2020 – The US/Mexico/Canada agreement to limit non-essential travel has again been extended, presently to AUGUST 21st.

It is worth noting, as many Rock Point travelers are aware, this measure has NOT been enforced up to now by officials at the Sonoyta land crossing into Mexico since it began last year. We remain alert to any additional changes in actions at the Mexico land entry in Lukeville/Sonoyta.

NOTE: BORDER HOURS Lukeville/Sonoyta (both ways) 6 am – 8 pm

*IMPORTANT: Entry into the US via land border is only for US citizens and/or US permanent residents.* This ongoing extension also impacts Canadians (and other foreign nationals) in Mexico wishing to return via land border.US border officials may sternly remind you of the “non-essential travel limitation” when returning North to the U.S.

*FOR AIR TRAVEL* – as of Jan. 26th a negative Covid test is required when FLYING into the U.S. No additional announcement has been made yet as to land entries.
