The 2nd Tri-National Symposium among the U.S., Mexico, and Tohono O’odham communities is scheduled for March 19 – 23 in Ajo, Arizona. During the first symposium, held in 2010, the recommendation was made that this be held every two years and this year’s symposium, entitled “Celebrating the Sonoran Desert” will focus on the successes and continuous challenges presented for conservation of the beautiful Sonoran Desert.  The weeklong event will include discussion panels, field trips, and key note speakers. Among the field trips are opportunities to visit the Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument, Painted Rock Petroglyph sites, the volcanic landscape within the Pinacate Biosphere Reserve (on the road to Puerto Peñasco – US passport required), as well as to the Tohono O’odham Cultural Center and Museum, and more.  Information and registration info:  sonoransymposium.com
