It’s the end of January and we’re launching into February full force! If you haven’t heard, near the Reef there’s a pile of rocks extending about 600 ft. out to sea. Construction of this breakwater, which is the initial part of development on the IMG_4442-630x420 Super! Rocky Point Weekend Rundown!cruise ship Home Port, is causing quite a stir in town topped with excitement for what’s to come.  Sonora Governor Padrés recently stopped by to see progress on the Home Port, and took the opportunity to remark on numerous other projects around the community…particularly the roads.

So let’s sprint into this Weekend Rundown, first by giving some road tips:

Blvd. Juarez –  Expansion work continues on the stretch from approximately Sam’s to the baseball field. Use alternate routes when coming into town (Blvd. Josefa if heading to Las Conchas or Blvd. Fremont; turn off to Coastal Highway and then use of new road toward Sandy Beach developments)

Calle 13 – We’re ALMOST there!  Entrance to Calle 13 at Blvd. Juarez intersection is still blocked off in preparation for unveiling of the Monumento al Pescado. Also, note there has been work right at the intersection of Calle 13 and Plutarco Elías Calles (near Sushi Sun) – watch for one lane use or alternatives when approaching Peñasco del Sol area.

Blvd. Samuel Ocaña – Work continues on stretch between Blvd. Juarez and Ave. Juan Escutia.

This Weekend

Yes, the whales are still around and plenty of local companies are eager to take folk out in search of a fin or two.  Get out to sea this weekend for sure!
