Spring has Sprung! Weekend Rundown 3/15 – 3/18

spring-break-rundown-620x413 Spring has Sprung! Weekend Rundown 3/15 - 3/18Spring has sprung in Puerto Peñasco! The annual Red Cross fundraising drive is underway (to run through the end of April) and Spring fever is starting to grip both residents and visitors alike, all looking to spend longer days at the beach. What better way to start than with a three-day weekend? Important: Monday, March 18th is a bank holiday here in Mexico, commemorating the birth of Benito Juarez, Mexico’s iconic President who led the country through trying times of the Reform War and French Intervention in the early 1860s. Though he was born on March 21st, the official holiday has been moved to Monday, March 18th.

Speaking of Spring, keep your eye out on March 21st for elementary school students dressed up as flowers, bunnies, baby chicks, and frogs parading through town to welcome la Primavera! Then, on March 22nd, students from across the country will enter the much longed for Semana Santa break (Holy Week). Vacationers from across northwestern Mexico are sure to flock to Peñasco’s beaches, malecón, and race up competition hill – all coinciding with the final week of AZ Spring Breaks! Whew!

Let’s get to the Weekend Rundown!
