Puerto Peñasco, Sonora. October 20, 2016. The Municipal DIF of Puerto Peñasco received a donation of 45,000 pesos from Sonoran Resorts to help support 23 outstanding students from the community.
Fernando Anya, General Director of Sonoran Resorts, presented a symbolic check to Mayor Kiko Munro of funds raised during the Resort’s annual “Las Vegas Night for Charity” held earlier this year.
On behalf of Municipal DIF President Linda Pivac de Munro, the mayor expressed appreciation for the support which will go to covering unpaid expenses as well as school registration for 23 students currently at the high school and university levels.
“This is undoubtedly an important moment for these students from Puerto Peñasco to receive this support in helping to cover expenses while continuing with their education,” detailed the mayor, “among these students is one at the Technological Institute of Puerto Peñasco (ITSPP), two at the Autonomous University of Baja California, eleven at CETMAR, and nine at COBACH.”
The mayor explained each student will receive an amount of 1,956.50 pesos, which is to go directly to the schools to help pay expenses that arise from registration and tuition.
