Rocky Point Medical Clinics to celebrate 20 years of service

By José Antonio Pérez

The bi-national civil association Clínicas Médicas de Puerto Peñasco, founded by Doctor George Stavros and his wife, Susie, will turn 20 in 2019. The association supports health and other needs of people across the city by providing over 20 diverse campaigns yearly.

Along with health clinics, the organization – whose site in Puerto Peñasco is located at the Palabras de Esperanza Community Center in Col. San Rafael –  is also involved in community service including tutorship and counseling for students, first aid training, physical therapy, beauty courses, foreign languages, arts and crafts, and carpentry, among others.

Clínicas Médicas Director Loly Martinez explained it has been a labor of love working with the organization, highlighting how much it has grown. The facilities of Clínicas Médicas now include eight buildings where they offer medical attention and community services.  She emphasized the program’s ability to provide 17 prosthetic arms and legs at a minimum cost for people in Puerto Peñasco and across the region.

Martinez detailed the association helped more than 5,800 people in 2018 alone with general medicine, dental, and optometry campaigns. Clínicas Médicas de Puerto Peñasco (Rocky Point Medical Clinics) is located at the Palabras de Esperanza Community Development Center at Callejón Juan Aldama, between 68 y 69, next to the Carlos Cáñez Sports Complex in Col. San Rafael. Information on their monthly clinics can be found at  Rocky Point Medical Clinics
