Roar of motorcycles highlights 6th Annual Kings Day Toy Run

Hundreds of children from the northwestern outskirts of Puerto Peñasco took part in the 6th annual Kings Day Toy Run on Saturday, January 11th, culminating toy collection efforts of last Fall’s Rocky Point Rally.  Members from local motorcycle clubs, along with several volunteers and toy donors, joined Rocky Point Rally organizer Oscar Palacio on the Malecon in the Old Port before riding out to the toy distribution spot set up once again at San Miguel Arcangel church.

With a police escort in the lead, over twenty motorcycles rolled up to the church parking lot, where they were welcomed by the joyful shouts of nearly 700 children anxiously awaiting the chance to select a toy in honor of Kings Day.  After all toys were handed out to the eager children, ranging in age from 2 months to 14 years old, the afternoon wrapped up with the raffle of four bicycles and an assortment of the larger toys.

Framed between banners of the Rocky Point Rally, along with magazine sponsor Quick Throttle and the local Rocky Point Riders motorcycle club, the toy tent was a delight to all! Organizers wish to thank local motorcycle clubs, particularly the Rocky Point Riders and Plastikos, along with members of the “Valley of the Son” Riders of the Christian Motorcycle Association, and everyone who donated toys to this year’s Kings Day Toy Run!

Save the date! The 20th Annual Rocky Point Rally will be held Nov. 11 – 15, 2020 where toys can be donated for next year’s Kings Day Toy Run!
