Puerto Peñasco’s 90th!

Beginning July 1st, Puerto Peñasco will be celebrating the 90th Anniversary since it was originally founded in 1927 (becoming a municipality about 30 years later). Mayor Kiko Munro detailed several activities are planned from July 1st – 14th, which include artistic and cultural presentations as well as commemorative ceremonies in honor of city founders and distinguished individuals that have contributed to Puerto Peñasco’s development.

“Peñasco has its history and identity,” he emphasized, detailing  “The first settlers came to Puerto Peñasco in the 1920s, transforming it over the years into a fishing village. This went on to become one of the most important cities in the fishing sector, and in the last three decades has become the most important tourist destination for northwestern Mexico and the southwestern U.S.”
