Puerto Peñasco to host Sonora Arizona Commission

Puerto Peñasco, Sonora.  August 10, 2017.  Puerto Peñasco will host the upcoming Sonora Arizona Commission, scheduled for Nov. 30th – Dec. 1st, announced Yamilett Martínez Briseño, International Liaison Director for the state of Sonora.

In meeting with Mayor Kiko Munro and members of the Business Advisory Council, Martínez stated, “We bring news from Natalia Rivera of the Sonora Government Executive Office, of which the Sonora Arizona Commission International Liaison Office is part, that thanks to measures taken by the mayor the decision has been made for Puerto Peñasco to host the upcoming annual commission meeting.”

The mayor thanked Sonora Governor Claudia Pavlovich Arellano for the confidence in having designated Puerto Peñasco as host for the binational meeting, which will address topics of tremendous importance for the development of the Mega Region of both border states.

Sonora International Liaison Martínez Briseño emphasized Governors Claudia Pavlovich of Sonora and Doug Ducey of Arizona are committed to work on reviving the Puerto Peñasco Home Port, as well as promotion of economic development, competitiveness, security, and quality of life. She noted the binational meeting expects 550 participants, with 60% from private initiatives, 20% representing business leaders and academics, and 20% made up of government officials from both sides of the border.
