Puerto Peñasco to host 2022 First Force Baseball State Championship

Puerto Peñasco will welcome over 20 baseball teams from across Sonora and beyond from September 22nd – 25th, as host to the 2022 First Force State Baseball Championship. The event will hit it out of the park in boosting sports tourism!

Francisco León García Stadium will shine as site of the baseball fest, with participation of over 20 first rank teams from Sonora, kicking off a strong baseball season.  Additional Fall tournaments in a variety of categories will bring together more than 90 baseball teams from within and outside Sonora.

The State Baseball Cup organizing committee, made up of sports promoters, is currently fine-tuning logistics and rehabilitating baseball fields through collaboration of state and municipal offices, the Puerto Peñasco Convention and Visitors Bureau, and business organizations, to ensure the tournament’s success as it will attract thousands of baseball fans.

The annual tournament, recognized by the Sonora State Sports Commission and the Sonora State Baseball Association, will welcome teams from Hermosillo, Guaymas, Nogales, Caborca, Magdalena, and Puerto Peñasco, and more.

Along with the championship cup, there will be an invitational tournament Sept. 10-11 for those 40+, with participation of 20 teams, as well as the 60+ invitational cup Sept. 29th – Oct. 2nd.  These will attract over 20 squads from the US and Mexican states of Sonora, Sinaloa, Arizona, Michoacan, California, and New Mexico, among others. Plus, there will be a Peñasco Cup from Oct 14th – 16th for those 5-18, with over 60 teams principally from Sonora and Baja California.

Special packages and sports activities are being developed to give a warm welcome to baseball season as teams of all ages ready themselves to participate in the upcoming tourneys.  These opportunities will guarantee players, guests, and visitors can all enjoy a pleasant stay at the beach and in the tourism spots in this corner of the Sea of Cortez.
