The City of Puerto Peñasco has published an interactive epidemiological coronavirus Covid-19 map, which highlights suspected and confirmed cases of coronavirus, as well as recoveries, deaths, and high contact areas from across the city. The goal of the map, developed by Dr. Iván Munguía in collaboration with Dr. Oscar Castro Castro, Director of the Municipal Health Office, is to be able to take preventive steps to further mitigate the virus’ spread.
Mayor Ernesto Kiko Munro detailed this map will help raise the population’s awareness as to focus areas of the virus within a 300-meter radius of city neighborhoods. He furthered that, via rapid tests, the City has been able to detect individuals with a high probability of coronavirus, who in turn have been asked to self-isolate until State health institutions are able to officially confirm.
Unfortunately, he observed, there is a lot of non-essential movement around town and not everyone is sticking to the precautionary steps the city has in place, which include mandatory use of masks in all public spaces, washing hands, and use of antibacterial gel, among other health measures.
