Puerto Peñasco celebrated the 73rd anniversary of Día de la Marina, paying homage to those of the sea with floral wreaths in the water and at foot of monument to Shrimp fishermen on the malecón.
Navy personnel, city officials, and students gathered on the malecón this morning to pay homage to Mexican marines who have fallen in defense of the nation, and in honor of fishermen who earn their living by setting out to sea day after day.
During the ceremony, Port Captain Luis Castro Galán emphasized the efforts of navy personnel in defending the nation for years and in safeguarding the country and its natural resources.
Following the end of the official civic ceremonies, which included the participation of students, honor guards and the Puerto Peñasco youth orchestra, city officials and invited guests boarded boats at the docks and headed out for the laying of floral wreaths on the water in remembrance of fallen sailors and fishermen lost at sea.
