In addressing the serious ecological risk of plastics on different ecosystems, and particularly that of marine life, the Puerto Peñasco City Council has approved a gradual reduction in the use of plastics across the municipality.
The goal, detailed mayor Kiko Munro, is that businesses across Puerto Peñasco stop using materials such as straws, plastic bags, and other single-use plastic items. He announced the Regulation to Limit Use of Plastics has been approved and is currently in process of publication in the official State bulletin. The effort will be complemented by education and awareness campaigns as the regulation takes effect.
