sept-independencia Program for El Grito @ City Hall! Sept. 15thOn the night of September 15th, traditional Mexican Independence Day celebrations surround City Hall. Come out to enjoy typical Mexican foods and treats, plus music, dance, and the traditional “Grito” (call to Independence).  Independence Day is September 16th.

7 p.m. – 8 p.m.:  Program put on by the Casa de la Cultura and EIAA (Fine Arts Initation Program)

  • Theater “Quién mató a Rosita Alvárez” by Randy Vega
  • Juan Palomas (finalist from The Voice Mexico)
  • Danza Folklorica with Rosa Maria Briseño

8 p.m – 10:30 p.m.   Concerts

Fernando Solis, Juan Reyes, Cesar Castelo, Grupo Norte and “waxed pole” contests during intermissions

10:30 p.m.  Horse ride from Bancomer to City Hall to the official ceremony

11 p.m.  Mayor commemorates the Grito de Dolores

11:30  Traditional burning of decorative castle + Fireworks
