Puerto Peñasco hoteliers visited 23 of the most renowned travel agencies in Tijuana this past month, with the goal of further positioning this beautiful port within one of the city’s main tourist markets, reported Puerto Peñasco Convention and Visitors Bureau (OCV) President Héctor Vázquez del Mercado.

Along with sharing special packages and rates offered by area hotels, hoteliers were able to detail the numerous activities available in Puerto Peñasco, ranging from water sports to ultralights, recreational fishing to ATV rentals, and the unique opportunity to visit the the Pinacate and Grand Desert of Altar Biosphere Reserve (UNESCO Natural World Heritage Site).

The OCV President noted agencies are not only looking at rates for Summer 2017 and Semana Santa 2018, but rather are looking more to Puerto Peñasco as a nearby weekend family escape, and as a spot for special events or business gatherings.

Vázquez del Mercado detailed along with these types of “Road Shows,” the Convention and Visitors Bureau is welcoming travel agent “Fam Trips”, as the more agents are familiar with the area the more opportunities there will be to grow.

He noted the next promotional tour will be to Phoenix, Arizona, in continuing to promote Puerto Peñasco among travel agents in the western part of the U.S.
