OXXO “round up” campaign benefits local Fire Department

The Puerto Peñasco Fire Department recently received a check for $289,000 pesos from resources collected through OXXO’s regional “round up” campaign.

These funds were collected over the period spanning March, April, and May for every 50 cents OXXO customers “rounded up” in Puerto Peñasco, Sonoyta, San Luis Río Colorado and Valle de San Luis.

Nicandro Cornejo Torres, Fire Department Director, expressed thanks for this important donation and noted it will be put toward purchase of a fire truck to add to the Department’s emergency response equipment.

Carmen Julieta Núñez Gonzalez, OXXO representative in Sonoyta, called on the community of Puerto Peñasco and across the region to say “Yes to rounding up” in order to continue adding 50 cents to each purchase in helping to support important causes.

She indicated the next “round up” campaign is for a Migrant Shelter, Casa del Migrante en la Divina Providencia.

OXXO representatives from Monterrey, Mexicali, Sonoyta, San Luis, and Puerto Peñasco were all on hand for the recent presentation and presented with acknowledgements from the Puerto Peñasco Fire Department, along with a fire extinguisher, for their collaboration with charitable rescue institutions.
