Local administration and DIF to present Mixed Martial Arts function
Mixed Martial Arts will enliven Puerto Peñasco on October 15th at a function of the World Fighting Federation Mexico (WFFM), set to take place at the Convention Center.
Mayor Kiko Munro, accompanied by his wife Linda Pivac de Munro, along with MMA fighter and WFFM President Efraín “Hecho en México” Escudero, and his US counterpart Brandy Pierce, announced the event will consist of 8 professionally ranked fights along with 5 amateur bouts.
“Funds raised from the event will be put toward improving roofs on homes of families of limited resources, through work to be carried out by DIF,” noted the mayor.
WFFM President and professional MMA fighter Efraín Escudero detailed the upcoming event at the Convention Center will be sanctioned by the State Boxing Association and State Mixed Martial Arts and Wrestling, and will be a first rate family event for the enjoyment of visitors and residents.
He left open the possibility that MMA World Champion Caín Velázquez may participate, adding that Jacob “Stitch” Durán is already confirmed to attend. The line up will also include Luis Esquer, an MMA talent originally from Puerto Peñasco, who will be fighting in the professional category. The amateur category will also include Peñasco fighters Omar Tirado and Jesús “El Oso” García Vega.
