Phoenix, Arizona. Puerto Peñasco Mayor Kiko Munro reached an agreement with directors of the Arizona Diamondbacks in establishing a calendar of activities meant to encourage sports among youth in Puerto Peñasco, while also helping to revive the local economy.
Over the weekend, Mayor Munro met with Arizona Diamondback VicePresident of Content and Communications, Josh Rawitch, along with Luis González, Consultant to the President and General Director, and various former players including Shea Hillenbrand, and Sonoran players Elmer Dessens and Erubiel Durazo, who serves as Special Consultant in Mexico.
“We agreed on a calendar of joint activities between the Peñasco administration and Arizona Diamondbacks,” stated the mayor, “which will begin in October with cheerleader training and remodeling of a baseball field at the San Rafael Sports Complex.”
In November, activities will include a golf tournament put on by Las Palomas Beach & Golf Resort, and several sports clinics for children, as the Major League team shares the local administration’s interest in encouraging values, hardwork, and discipline among youth.
