Puerto Peñasco is set to serve as an extension of the 47th International Cervantino Festival, one of the most important arts festivals in Latin America. Local festivities from Oct. 24 – 27 are scheduled to include participation of over 1000 artists via 65 expressions of fine arts, strengthening the city’s renown as a cultural destination.
Puerto Peñasco mayor Ernesto “Kiko” Munro expressed pride and motivation as Puerto Peñasco is the only subsite in northwestern Mexico for this year’s Cervantino Festival, marking Puerto Peñasco’s fifth consecutive year as part of the event. He detailed this year’s theme for the festival is “Migrations”, highlighting Canada as the special guest country and the Mexican state of Guerrero as invited guest State.
This year’s edition of the Cervantino Festival in Puerto Peñasco will showcase such talents as Mexican singers and groups including Guadalupe Pineda, Los Rastrillos, Los Salmeron, Compañía de Danza de Bellas Artes, Elena Rivera; as well as rising international Chinese DJ’s: DJ Sun Meng, DJ Kobe, and DJ BBGun.
Local festivities for the 2019 celebration of the International Cervantino Festival are scheduled to begin on Thursday, Oct. 24th on the Malecón Fundadores in the Old Port approximately 6 p.m. with an inaugural ceremony.
