Over the long weekend marking U.S. 4th of July celebrations, the local Convention and Visitors Bureau (OCV) anticipates at least 50,000 visitors to hit the beaches in Rocky Point, with some firework displays already going off on Saturday night July 1st.
OCV President Héctor Vazquez del Mercado stressed this reaffirms the 4th of July as one of the most important dates for tourism to town, adding this year the holiday break for many is longer as the 4th falls on a Tuesday.
Vázquez del Mercado detailed the city’s accommodation services have a capacity for between 35,000 to 40,000 people, though it’s quite possible the number of visitors will reach over 50,000 with those coming to stay at their own properties or at homes of friends and family in town.
Similarly, Municipal Tourism Director Luis Altamirano Aldama reported the city expects full occupancy levels at area hotels over the U.S. Independence Day holiday break, extending the outlook to a total of 100,000 visitors when considering both the weekend before and after the 4th.
