Hermosillo “Fashion and Art” fundraiser for robotic prosthetics

On Oct. 27th, Los Lagos Campestre country club in Hermosillo will host a “Fashion and Art” event to raise funds to help provide robotic prosthetics to individuals across Sonora. Organizers, including Fatima Zuset Lamadrid of Elite Magazine International, recently visited Puerto Peñasco to promote the event, noting their goal is to raise 1 million pesos in all.

The evening will feature a fashion show with a collection by Mexico City fashion designer Hector Terrones, with a percentage of sales proceeds going to fulfill the overall goal. The 1 million peso goal will help provide 50 robotic prosthetic hands to individuals in Sonora. These will be made available through the Markoptik Foundation, which on their own can run up to $30,000 US each.

Individual recipients of the prosthetic pieces will be selected from names collected through the DIF offices across Sonora.  Interested individuals may visit the Municipal DIF (Ave. Sinaloa) for more information on adding names to the selection list.
