rocky-point-pics-8-620x412 Governor Padrés to once again visit Rocky PointThere is much anticipation surrounding Sonora Governor Guillermo Padrés Elías’ presence for the laying of the first stone on the Puerto Peñasco Convention Center located in the Sandy Beach area. It had been thought Governor Padrés would lay the first stone on the Convention Center as part of activities during the busy Mexico-Arizona Commission meeting in early February, though the two-day session did not provide an opportunity for such an event.

According to the local site, numerounoonline.com, Governor Padrés is expected to be in town on Tuesday, Feb. 28, where he will visit infrastructure improvements at a local school, inaugurate the extension of the Coastal Highway that now connects to the area of Sandy Beach, as well as lay the first stone on the Convention Center.  Governor Padrés is set to begin the morning at 8 a.m. during the “Governor on your Radio” program, where he will also be listening to concerns of local citizens.  Fausto Soto, City International Affairs Director, has extended the following invitation to the community:  “You are cordially invited to attend the “groundbreaking” ceremony for the Convention Center by Governor Guillermo Padres, tomorrow morning Tuesday, Feb. 28 at 10:00 AM located on the Old Cholla Bay Road past Rodeo Drive (curios market).”

The Puerto Peñasco Convention Center, as explains local AMPI (Mexican Association of Professional Realtors) President Milton Félix Reyes, will cover a constructed area of 8.0 hectares, and 5.0 hectares of parking with a capacity for 3,500 people, placing Rocky Point as a convention destination.
